Autonomous line-following robots

Students build and program a robot that follows a track using reflectance sensors — from wiring to a working autonomous run.

What's covered

  • Wiring reflectance sensors and a motor driver
  • Reading sensor input and controlling motors in code
  • Tuning a simple control loop so the robot tracks the line
  • Testing, troubleshooting and iterating on the design

Overview

A proven, classroom-ready robotics unit. Students go from a bare chassis to an autonomous robot that follows a track — learning sensing, control and iteration along the way. Every lesson has been run with real classes before it reached you.

What students build

A working line-following robot they program, test and tune themselves — plus a short design log documenting their troubleshooting.
